Windows 10 users report a huge problem with the Microsoft operating system – Express

Windows 10 is Microsoft’s newest computer software that is used across the globe.

The operating system was most recently updated last year when the American tech giant released its October 2018 Update to fans.

Although the upgrade’s rollout was initially paused due to reported issues, its delivery soon resumed to all Windows 10 users.

While the operating system is incredibly popular, it appears some users are currently experiencing problems when attempting to connect to Microsoft Store or take advantage of Windows Update.

A number of reports for such an issue have emerged on both Reddit and Twitter with many insisting Comcast’s Domain Name System (DNS) was responsible.

Comcast is an American internet provider.

However, other Windows 10 users not using Comcast have taken to Microsoft’s Answers forum to declare they are experiencing similar issues.

In particular, it was noted some BT internet customers in the UK were affected.

It appears the Windows 10 problem has stemmed from DNS issues.

DNS is vital for computers and allows them to connect to online services.

An issue affecting its process can make programmes such as Windows Update inaccessible.

Some fans have stated switching to Google’s DNS has solved the problem, however this does not appear to be a full-proof remedy.

For users that want to try switching to Google’s DNS, they can do so by following these steps:

• Open Control Panel

• Open Network and Internet

• Open Network and Sharing Centre

• Press “change adapter settings” that should be located on the left-hand side of the panel

• Right click the network in question and press Properties

• Press Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list presented

• Press Properties

• Enter a new DNS address – Google’s public DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

• Press OK and ensure the new settings have been applied

In a Reddit thread discussing the issues with the Microsoft Store and Windows Update, a support engineer for the firm commented and said it was “aware” of the issue.

They said: “Microsoft is aware of this issue and is investigating.

“We’ll provide more information as it becomes available.”

The response from the engineer suggests the issues with Windows 10 seems to be a problem on Microsoft’s part.

It is worth noting no precise details about the release of a fix were given.

Moreover, it is also unclear how many Windows 10 users are being affected by the DNS issue.
