Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is tipped for an upgrade to One UI 5 based on Android 13 – Notebookcheck.net

Samsung is rumored to have abandoned the Fan Edition versions of its Galaxy S-series flagship Android smartphones in 2022. It is not, however, slated to have ditched them in terms of software, as their most recent iteration, the S21 FE, is said to get no less than 4 major upgrades during its lifetime. The first of these might be one the way, and sooner rather than later.

The “Samsung One UI Software Updateinitiative purports to track the OEM’s Android development over time, even before the release of the resulting stable upgrades in some cases. Now, it claims that one of these firmware checks has yielded signs of a potentially important S21 FE update.

They allegedly consist of Android 13-based One UI 5test builds” for the SM-G990E variant sold in India. The leak’s claim is based on the premise that this device is currently on the official G990EXXU3CVI8, G990EXXU3CVJ2 or G990EODM3CVJ2 firmware, but that Samsung is working on replacements called G990EXXU3DVJ4 for the first 2 or G990EODM3DVJ4 for the third.

Therefore, should this change in those last 4 characters prove significant enough, the S21 FE might be in line for the switch to One UI 5 soon. Then again, similar leaks for the device’s versions for any other markets are lacking at present.
